A Week of Changes

We've got a lot of changes going on, so for my personal documentation, I'm laying them out on the line.

A) We turned Drew forward facing.
Yeah! We made it until 2 years old! He was really in a state of shock that first car ride and kept saying 'WHOA Mommy'! Can you see the confusion on his face?

And if you need the data on why you should rear-face longer, check out my post here.

B) I cheated on Asics.
After our 5 year love affair, I didn't need his bulkiness anymore and fell in love with the Saucony Progrid 5

C) Drew moved up to the next class at school.
He's doing awesome with drinking from an open cup and walking up the stairs without any assistance (the 2 biggest changes). He looks SO tiny in his new classroom and it makes this momma a bit sad.

(Sorry! I don't have a picture from school but here's one of my baby chillaxing.)

D) I got my hair did. (And yes, I meant to type "did")
...and it's a really dark, new color. I had been blond/light brown for 6 years and it was just time for a new change.

I'm kinda digging it.

Thoughts?

But the biggest change?! My baby turns 2 on Saturday. AHHHH!!!!!!

  2. That first picture is so funny, but cute! Such a big boy moving up to the next class at school. I went darker with my hair too! I keep meaning to post a picture, but it's never looking cute when I think about it. I love your hair though!

Totally agree with the rear-facing. We're going to plug through until the monkey is two. Only makes sense.

  11. i love that you cheated on your running shoes. I am really stuck to NIKEs becuase I always love how they fit and the colors, so I would totally be the same way. and LOVE the brown hair color- you rock at being brunette :)

  12. SO MUCH AWESOMENESS IN THIS POST. Love your hair color. You look great in it. And yay for making it to two years RF! I get antsy about wanting to turn Tay around since she hates being in the carseat, but I'm trying so hard to make it to two years for her safety.

  14. in a crunch situation, I borrowed my SIL's car seat for her 2 year old. It's front facing and we didn't have time to switch it. Raegan had the same look on her face. "What is this world I can see?" She didn't mind one bit going right back to rear facing when we got home. I was just a bit worried about that.

I love the hair...looks wonderful on you!

  15. Looks like you've opened up a whole new world for Drew. He'll discover all kinds of things - in the car and in his new class. Your hair looks great, but then it always does. What does Derek think? - Aunt Karen

  21. The hair looks fabulous!! Happy birthday to your little man!!!

  22. Love the hair! Two years old is a big milestone:). Believe it or not, Jax is 2.5 and still rear facing! He doesn't know any different so I am keeping him that way until he hits the limits of the seat. I'm so glad others are getting that info out there - thank you for that! I'm so surprised how many people don't know about how important it is!

  25. Hi Sarah, thanks for stopping by my blog. I love to connect with other moms of boys. I'm also keeping my little man backwards until two and a lot of people question it. Especially since my other boys I turned around at 1. Happy birthday to your little man! My baby is turning 1 next week. They grow up too fast.

  27. Love the new do!! I am a fellow brunette so I am a bit partial. Why is it when all of these small changes add up they crash into 1 big mama moment?? We just bought our little lady a toddler bed which we will not be moving her into for a while, but just having it makes my heart hurt a tiny bit. I am so glad to find other extended rear facing families. We definitely plan on rear facing until 2 and thankfully our girl is a peanut so no squished legs around here and even if she was a bit squished she should still be RF. Have a happy weekend lady!!

  28. Your hair looks very pretty!
Way to go on keeping him rear-facing for so long. My 17 month old is still going strong, and she'll stay that way until she turns 2!

  30. Hair looks great!
I have those shoes, too ... the first pair of "real" running shoes I've ever bought. I used to just buy whatever was on sale (and had pink in them), but aches & pains in my knees, hips & back led me to Gary Gribbles. (p.s. when did we get old & talk about our body hurting?) They are SO COMFORTABLE & I'd like to wear them all the time, every day if I could!
